Andreja Klepac, currently ranked No. 38 in doubles, has captured 12 doubles titles including winning the Western and Southern open in 2019. Born and raised in Slovenia, Klepac has reached a career high of No. 12 in doubles. We recently spoke with Andreja to get to know her better.
Q: What has been your best moment on a tennis court?
A: For sure the best moment was winning Cincinnati last year (2019), but also achieving two wins against the Williams sisters.
Q: What sports did you play as a kid?
A: I played a few sports when I was kid. I did gymnastics when I was seven years old, and I was pretty good. At the same time, I was also practicing tennis. One time, I went to a gymnastics school competition and I finished in 3rd place. Of course, I was happy placing 3rd, but unfortunately I didn’t get any medal. I was so upset that I quit practicing gymnastics and continued with tennis. I also played volleyball, as this sport was in the family.
Q: What is your all-time favorite movie?
A: My all-time favorite movie is Mamma Mia.
Q: What is your favorite shot in tennis?
A: My favorite shot in tennis is my forehand down the line.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: My favorite food is prosciutto, pasta with truffle with a nice glass of wine.
Q: If you weren’t a tennis player, what would you like to be?
A: If I weren’t a tennis player, I would be a volleyball player, as my father was a professional coach and also a player. My sister was also a professional volleyball player.
Q: What’s your favorite tournament on tour?
A: My favorite tournament on tour is the Australian open, as well as Indian Wells.
Q: What is your favorite part about the World TeamTennis format?
A: The great part of WTT is that we all are like family for these 3 weeks. Also, the format that is played is great, because spectators get to see all the matches in about two hours.
